OUR TRIP TO ENGLAND (4B)
On Tuesday, September 18 we all met at Klagenfurt Airport. We took the 16:50 plane to London Stansted where we arrived two hours later. We went by coach to the south coast to Eastbourne. Our host families picked us up at nine p.m. at the local coach station.
During the following days we had school from 9:00 till 12:30, but on Wednesday we already finished at 12:00 to catch the train to London. There we attended the musical ‘THE LION KING’ which we all thought was brilliant and entertaining.
On the second day in the afternoon we took the bus to the Seven Sisters and Beachy Head. There we were able to enjoy the breathtaking picturesque view across the British Channel. Then we walked along the cliff edge back to Eastbourne.
On Friday we went by train to Hastings, where we visited the ruins of the ancient castle. On Saturday and Sunday we caught the train to London where we visited Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, Downing Street Nr 10 (the home of the British Prime Minister), Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, The London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, The Speakers’Corner in Hyde Park, St. Paul`s Cathedral, The Tower of London, Tower Bridge, The Shard and Greenwich. All of the class were keen on going shopping in London. The girls and some boys loved Abercrombie & Fitch and the numerous Hollister stores very much.
On Monday we went to Brighton in the afternoon and had a look at the famous Pier and the Royal Pavilion. Then we got some free time in the huge local shopping centre.
On Tuesday September 25 we left Eastbourne for London Stansted at 8 a.m. Early afternoon we got onto the plane to Klagenfurt where we arrived at 16:30.
On this trip we got introduced to British culture and I think we all improved our English language skills.
We want to thank our teachers Prof. Fröhlich and Prof. Braunecker for this unforgettable trip which we all enjoyed very much.
